Danny McCavanagh - Silat Buka Lingkaran - World Fighting for Lives Weekend 2011


Danny has always had been an active child playing the Irish sport of Hurling at a tender age of 5 and then at county level from 14 to senior level. His first introduction in the martial arts was Judo and trained for 7 years with the highly acclaimed Yamakwi Judo Club, run by the legendary Jimmy Ward.

Danny also trained in Southern Chow Gar Praying Mantis Kung Fu for 4 years, which lead him to train in the Muay Thai Arts for few years.

In 2003 he was introduced to Pencak Silat after attending a seminar and was attracted by the grace, power, speed and the way the art seemed flow, a concept completely new to him, he immediately started training and have been ever since.

Training in Pencak Silat, Danny claims that it has had a profound impact on his health, fitness and every aspect of his life.

Danny has been an apprentice instructor under Alvin Guinanao now for 3 years and runs his own classes in Belfast. As well as this he is a qualified (Level 3) Personal Trainer and a registered Kettlebell coach (IUKL).

Silat Buka Lingkaran Belfast presents "Fighting For Lives " charity seminar , on Sunday 13th Nov 11am - 2pm @ Unit 51 Westlink Enterprise Park , Distillary St., Grosvenor Rd., Belfast.
All Welcome , £10 on the day , all proceeds go to help orphans in need of our help.
